Kitchen Island Project Wrapped in Reclaimed Barn Board

Salvage Vancouver recently completed a unique kitchen island project utilizing reclaimed barn board sourced from a barn in Langley. The barn, with historical significance, once stored potatoes for the Hard Bite potato chip company founded by the owner's grandfather.

Collaborating with Prairie Bros, the project's seamless partnership brought together craftsmanship and history. The kitchen island, wrapped in the rich patina of the reclaimed wood, stands as a proud testament to sustainable design and heritage preservation.

The inclusion of the reclaimed barn board not only adds character to the kitchen island but also carries a narrative that honours the agricultural roots of Hard Bite. With each knot and grain telling a story of the past, the island becomes more than just a functional piece of furniture—it becomes a conversation piece.

Working with Prairie Bros was a delightful experience, as their expertise and dedication to quality mirrored our own values at Salvage Vancouver. The synergy between our two companies resulted in a kitchen island that embodies the spirit of collaboration and craftsmanship.

As we reflect on this project, we take pride in transforming pieces of history into functional art that not only beautifies spaces but also preserves a piece of the past for generations to come. Saluting the legacy of Hard Bite and the barn in Langley, this kitchen island stands as a reminder of the beauty that lies in reclaiming the old to create something new.
